Food has been important to the Palmer family since Edward Cook Palmer moved out West and opened one of Sioux City’s earliest grocery and dry goods stores in 1878. Business boomed when Palmer and company marketed their goods to retailers throughout Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska. For the next five generations the Palmer Candy Company directed its expertise toward chocolate and confections. In 2011, the company returned to its original commitment to the larger world of food with the opening of Palmer Specialty Foods.
Today, Palmer Specialty Foods serves high quality, hard-to-find ingredients for food lovers of Sioux City and beyond. The Palmer family continues to take pride and special care in its research and selection of new, artisan-inspired delicacies from the ever-expanding world of specialty foods.
